Citizens United and Getting Money out of Politics

The following addition was proposed for the individuals over institutions plank.

     `With the backdrop of Citizens United and a steady erosion of individual power, taking money out of politics ensures our government serves the people rather than deep-pocketed interests.`

Consensus was to send that text to PNC for approval.

Prediction markets

Due to the incongruity of prediction markets with the rest of the platform, the following policies were discussed for the formation of a new plank.

Markets (Name TBD)

Ban betting on sports, war, politics in a prediction market.
Have extensive prohibitions on insider trading in prediction markets with strong KYC.
Ban members of congress from trading on stocks, as it is insider trading.
Raise federal minimum wage to $15/hr.
Eliminate the concept of a tipped minimum wage and raise it to minimum wage.
End stock buybacks.
Raise capital gains to the same level as income tax.

Consensus was that the policies for prediction markets were sufficient to send to the PNC as a potential stance, but that determining the exact text of this plank and other policies to include/exclude requires more time.

Potential Housing Policy

Below is the currently discussed list of policies for housing that the committee has for potential inclusion.

Housing

End no-cause evictions
Establish the Tenant right to council
Give tenants and qualified housing nonprofits the right of first refusal when their unit is sold.
Tie certain federal transportation funding to cities waiving all minimum parking requirements within a half-mile of transit stops.

Update the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and other relevant regulations to:

   * Remove the 85th percent rule for speed limits.
   * Substantially lower the pedestrian volumes required to justify a crossing.
   * Reduce the standard lane width in cities to 10ft.

Require landlords to provide a public rent history.
Properly fund the section 8 program.
End algorithmic price fixing of rents
End Age discrimination in housing

No official decision has been made on the above policies.
