Record of the meeting
[9:02pm] Sayyida: lets start the meeting [9:02pm] Sayyida: megan klein chair WI [9:02pm] jokeefe: sorry to hear that [9:02pm] Bosun: Joseph Klein, Wisconsin [9:02pm] jokeefe: James O’Keefe, MA [9:02pm] Pirate_Joe: Joseph Onoroski, Vice-Chair, MA [9:02pm] designanddraft: elisa miller, mo [9:03pm] Sayyida: Bosun, can you give us the update on the bank account [9:03pm] Sayyida: I know we are struggling because of our name, but lets bring that up [9:04pm] jokeefe: how so? [9:04pm] Bosun: I should hang myself from the yardarm. OK - So far I have been looking at banks - and I am trying to find one with: [9:04pm] Bosun: * a national footprint or ability for anyone anywhere to tend the account [9:05pm] Bosun: * something without massive fees or charges [9:05pm] Bosun: * somebody that does not look at me crosseyed because I say pirate [9:06pm] Sayyida: currenlty the 2 banks we have looked at have given us either massive fees or shown us the door because we are pirates [9:06pm] Bosun: So far bankers have been a problem - when we stay away from the big ones - with have large feed [9:06pm] Bosun: Which ... yeah [9:07pm] Pirate_Joe: Jokeefe or I can get it done. I'll look for an opportunity this week to do so. [9:07pm] Sayyida: the smaller ones want to more or less stay away and the bigger ones are asking 15-20 for monthly fees for not having x ammount in the bank [9:07pm] Bosun: So the current application is with a national bank with good review - that does startups and has no brick and mortar beaches, [9:07pm] Pirate_Joe: My banks already know my crazy and accepted it long ago. [9:07pm] Sayyida: Pirate_Joe, hahaha [9:08pm] Bosun: Allo [9:08pm] jokeefe: MAPP has used two banks so far without problem [9:08pm] jokeefe: might be just Mass. banks [9:08pm] jokeefe: which are more regional [9:08pm] Sayyida: Bosun, azlo [9:09pm] Bosun: Sorry ... correction https://www.azlo.com/ [9:09pm] Sayyida: we had no problem with UWM credit union, but that is university wisconsin (milwaukee) credit union [9:09pm] Pirate_Joe: So long as we have online access and cards, there's no worries. [9:09pm] Sayyida: very very specific to regions [9:09pm] Sayyida: *nods* [9:10pm] Bosun: The internet bank does the accost stuff without a branch visit. [9:10pm] Bosun: account [9:10pm] Bosun: Ok I can't type tonight [9:11pm] Pirate_Joe: My point is that a regional bank that you already know will not give you problems. [9:11pm] Sayyida: too much rum sweetie? [9:11pm] Bosun: No rum yet [9:11pm] Sayyida: Pirate_Joe, good point [9:11pm] Sayyida: faces to people and less risk for side eye [9:11pm] Bosun: Yes but we can't be regional. [9:11pm] jokeefe: Getting signatures will probably require a notary for people who cannot appear at a branch [9:12pm] Sayyida: not a problem on our end if that is what you need [9:12pm] Bosun: I the long run any state should be able to pick up the baton [9:12pm] jokeefe: ideally [9:12pm] Pirate_Joe: That is fine, we can swap banks then. Not like there is a shortage of them. [9:12pm] Sayyida: hahaha [9:13pm] Bosun: I seriously thing that is shortsighted. [9:13pm] jokeefe: whatelse is on the agenda? [9:13pm] Pirate_Joe: I will be happy to set something up this week. [9:14pm] Pirate_Joe: Nominations are due? [9:14pm] Sayyida: Pirate_Joe, we have to give nominations [9:14pm] Sayyida: lol yep! [9:14pm] jokeefe: Yes, have we ever announced that nominations are open? [9:14pm] Sayyida: we have not yet [9:14pm] Sayyida: I think we should open the doors and start [9:14pm] Pirate_Joe: Did we not send out to the sab? [9:15pm] Sayyida: no not yet, we were having the interview last week and such [9:15pm] Pirate_Joe: Motion to delay voting by one week and send to the sab. [9:16pm] Bosun: 2nd [9:16pm] Pirate_Joe: All in favor? [9:16pm] Pirate_Joe: Aye [9:16pm] Sayyida: aye [9:16pm] jokeefe: aye [9:16pm] Bosun: Aye [9:16pm] designanddraft: aye [9:16pm] Pirate_Joe: Nays? [9:17pm] Pirate_Joe: The ayes have it! [9:17pm] Pirate_Joe: I should be able to do that myself. [9:17pm] Sayyida: oki! [9:17pm] jokeefe: thank you [9:18pm] Sayyida: thank you very much Pirate_Joe [9:18pm] Pirate_Joe: If it is ok with you, I'll try and create an activist list for the national level so we can send out weekly updates. [9:18pm] Sayyida: sounds like a plan [9:18pm] jokeefe: We have crew.uspirates.org [9:19pm] Sayyida: we are a little over half way done [9:19pm] Pirate_Joe: Me and jokeefe were working on it but I have not had a chance to get back in there since. [9:19pm] jokeefe: I can create an activist list. [9:19pm] Pirate_Joe: Where should nominations be sent? [9:19pm] jokeefe: sab / blog [9:19pm] Sayyida: send them to sab [9:20pm] Pirate_Joe: Uspp blog? [9:21pm] Sayyida: here I'd say [9:21pm] Pirate_Joe: I like the one Steve uses. [9:21pm] Sayyida: ? [9:21pm] Bosun: What is that called? [9:22pm] Pirate_Joe: Jokeefe? [9:22pm] Bosun: Ranked voting? Instat runnoff? [9:22pm] jokeefe: Ranked Choice Voting [9:22pm] jokeefe: aka Instant Runoff Voting [9:22pm] Sayyida: *nods* [9:23pm] jokeefe: Only really needed if we have three or more candidates [9:23pm] Pirate_Joe: That way we always have a majority. [9:23pm] Bosun: Yeah ... kinda overkill right now. [9:23pm] Sayyida: a bit, but we might have 2 or more running for the same spot [9:24pm] Pirate_Joe: Well, I would like to send out to all the pirates to see what support we could get. [9:24pm] Bosun: It should be put in the bylaws though. [9:24pm] jokeefe: lots of open positions [9:24pm] jokeefe: Agreed. [9:24pm] Pirate_Joe: Same thing with MA, should be put in our bylaws too. [9:25pm] Sayyida: 5 min left [9:25pm] designanddraft: should have no votes and fill in by voter [9:26pm] Pirate_Joe: For the sake of a seemless vote, motion to use Rank choice voting for the next election?
