The November 5th, 2023 PNC Meeting was one of the weekly meetings of the Pirate National Committee (PNC). This meeting took place on IRC.

<__v> So. Last time I went to the PPI Board meeting I signed up to help with the campaigning subcommittee that helps with international parties. That's how I ended up making graphics for the PPAUS for the *drumroll* screening for Aaron Swartz Day

<__v> The screening for Aaron Swartz day will be Nov 7 at 8p cst during our normal pirate chat hour on the uspp server. Then, at 8pm Australian time at the PP AUS server. Then around 8pm UK time in the PP UK server.

<__v> Mental health is very important for me and it coincides with men's mental health awareness month
<__v> One of our US Pirates brought up the intent of the reddit public domain community in wanting to start "January Open Culture" events. So, that will be my next international pirates project.

<Jester> I don’t have any updates regarding my project at the moment
<Ty--> Other than urging people to chime in on the press committee to approve the draft for Palestine-Israel conflict. IT has been drafted but no one three pirates have agreed. So it is sitting, collecting dust. 
<__v> I'll follow up with PP UK about the environmental vigil and other possible events. I believe they're meeting next weekend.

<Ty--> I was not interested in publishing a stance but others felt the USPP needed to take a stance. So here we are, : )

<jokeefe> My only thought about it is that point 3. presupposes that a unitary country is what all sides wish.

<__v> Jamie has one thought on the text for the statement
<yari> jamie: 1. pleasing every interest is impossible. 2. it doesn't presuppose it, but asks for all parties at the table of negotiation without the suggestion of two states as the default. 3. all peoples in the region coexisted without issue under one state previously. the two-state solution is a version of segregation.
<yari> if there is a way that the language could be clearer as to the intent, I'm happy to hear suggestions
<yari> However, I don't think we should be less strong on that point.
<Ty--> I suggested we stay away from that (one and two state solutions), except whereas stating we disagree with war in general and “actions” to take.
<jokeefe> I don’t disagree that a two state solution is likely unworkable, but it isn’t for us to decide what form the final agreement will take.
<yari> to be clear, jamie - I don't think we're suggesting that
<yari> that's why I'm feeling that our language could use some clarification
<yari> my understanding of point 3 is that it suggests a process

<yari> the writing and editing process does not take place in PNC meetings
<yari> Please, by all means, suggest changes,
<yari> and let's incorporate them
<yari> but let's not take up PNC time with this
<pmchi> I think we should just condemn the United States involvements, and not try to present any solutions to the conflict itself. I think our place in the Pirates sphere, as the United States is representatives, isn’t to solve the issue, but to comment on our own country’s involvement.
