Old Business

Approved US-State Party Data Sharing Proposal:

That the IT committee create the infrastructure such that state parties represented in the PNC have optional access to the CiviCRM contact data of the PNC with the following restrictions:

  • That each state's organizers will only be able to access the contacts which live within their respective state provided they hold no role in the US Pirate Party that does not grant them higher access;
  • That, for the purpose of the Pirate Party movement's continuity, each state must share with the PNC any additional contacts they acquire during the time they choose to retain access to the data of the PNC;
  • That each person who submits their contact information to the PNC be informed in writing that their information may be shared with state organizers.

New Business

Indiana Pirates (http://indianapirates.org/) approved as a state party.

ILPirates suggested motion to reaching out to Rhode Island and Alaska Green Parties, which GP of the US disaffiliated, and ask them to join the USPP. Motion tabled.

[9:10pm] rCarro: I have a question

[9:10pm] Joe: Nothing of note on the treasury front.

[9:10pm] Joe left the chat room. (Quit: Connection closed)
[9:11pm] Joe joined the chat room.
[9:11pm] Joe: Yes, we have a treasury
[9:11pm] yari: rCarro we don't have a method of taking in cash currently online, but we have taken state dues in the past. That makes up the bulk of our treasury.
[9:11pm] yari: a whopping $130
[9:11pm] rCarro: what does the cash go to
[9:12pm] Joe: Nothing, hence why it's still there.
[9:12pm] yari: although we will be updating about the Budget in a few meetings, correct?
[9:12pm] Joe: Most contributions have been via in-kind though we have to keep track of that as well.
[9:13pm] Joe: I thought we posted what we had. I will make sure I have it for next meeting.
[9:13pm] Joe: I have a few hours tomorrow to work on it.
[9:14pm] yari: no you are correct, and I am misremembering. We approved the budget I think
[9:14pm] jokeefe: See: https://wiki.uspirates.org/w/index.php?title=Budget_and_Financial_Statements
[9:14pm] papegaai: Title: Budget and Financial Statements - United States Pirate Party (at wiki.uspirates.org)
[9:14pm] yari: thank you jokeefe
[9:14pm] Joe: Thank you.
[9:14pm] rCarro left the chat room. (Quit: Connection closed)

[9:14pm] Joe: I can get the account numbers over to IT so we can start accepting donations.
[9:15pm] Bosun joined the chat room.
[9:15pm] Bosun was promoted to operator by ChanServ.

[9:15pm] rCarro: Wait, we don’t have FEC paperwork
[9:15pm] yari: agreed on both counts. please do that.
[9:15pm] jokeefe: Flyers and other info for supporters and other mailing to supporters
[9:16pm] Bosun: Sorry - my net got blown out of the water.
[9:16pm] rCarro: Literal paper mailing ?
[9:16pm] rCarro: Isn’t that a bit pricy
[9:16pm] jokeefe: We haven’t reached the limit that would trigger it rCarro
[9:16pm] Joe: No need for FEC if our spending was under an specific amount. Now that we have support from multiple states we can continue to the next level.
[9:16pm] yari: Joe, moving on to platform?
[9:16pm] rCarro: exciting
[9:16pm] rCarro: Exiting
[9:17pm] rCarro: Can’t wsit for platform
[9:17pm] Joe: Platform got heated this last week over abortion though we seem to all be in agreement with whom has the choice.

[9:19pm] yari: fantastic - let us know in advance about any proposals so that they can go on the agenda please
[9:20pm] yari: Thank you Joe. Next, let's move on to the reports on outreach. Wodensday?
[9:20pm] wodensday: PATRIOT Act event updates are as to be expected the most important thing.
[9:20pm] yari: sorry rCarro what would you like to say - please keep it brief we are in reports section
[9:21pm] rCarro: Abdullah, I, and Scott will introduce
[9:21pm] rCarro: something on the debate hopefully

[9:22pm] yari: fantastic, I'm glad to hear that. If you have any proposals for actual PNC or USPP policy you are welcome to submit them to the PNC directly, just please do so ahead of the meetings so there is time to put them on agenda
[9:22pm] yari: please continue wodensday
[9:22pm] Joe left the chat room. (Quit: Connection closed)
[9:23pm] wodensday: Yesterday morning we had our organizer meeting. Attendance was unfortunate, but we have a pleasant meeting regardless. We will be sending update emails to everyone we've been in correspondence with and hope to keep them updated as closely as possible as we near closer to the main event.
[9:23pm] Joe joined the chat room.
[9:24pm] wodensday: We are getting together a concrete schedule for our livestreams. Please get info on if you would like to speak, when you would like to speak, and what you would like to speak about to us ASAP.
[9:24pm] rCarro: I know my friend wants to do smtn
[9:24pm] wodensday: If you aren't sure, we always need people to participate in existing panels as well.
[9:24pm] rCarro: about the effects on Muslims
[9:24pm] wodensday: Thank you, rCarro. Abdullah correct?
[9:24pm] rCarro: with the patriot act
[9:24pm] wodensday: We'll be in touch
[9:24pm] rCarro: yes
[9:24pm] yari: yes rCarro we are already aware of Abdullah's interest.
[9:25pm] yari: thank you wodensday
[9:25pm] wodensday: Other than that, I just ask that everyone continues to check in with the patriot act discord channel when they can. Outreach will be having a busy week
[9:25pm] wodensday: That is all
[9:25pm] yari: thank you, okay moving on to pmchi - swarmcare
[9:26pm] pmchi: Indiana will be applying for PNC membership today! Illinois has agreed to be their sponsor state. On the Discord it appears Virginia and Montana has had some movement in the interest department as well, so hopefully that’ll go somewhere!
[9:26pm] rCarro: Virginia made movement?
[9:26pm] rCarro: Nifty
[9:27pm] yari: wonderful! We love to see new states making moves to join
[9:28pm] Joe: Please mak sure you send in your dues to Bosun.
[9:28pm] rCarro: Joe platform discussion tonight?
[9:28pm] rCarro: if u don’t mind
[9:28pm] rCarro: can we?
[9:28pm] Joe: Monday night but you are welcome to come any day that works for you.
[9:29pm] yari: thank you pmchi, moving on to Bosun - any updates to share?
[9:29pm] rCarro left the chat room. (Quit: Connection closed)
[9:30pm] Bosun: I am moving very slowly on crew fixes.
[9:31pm] Bosun: Wish I had more to report.
[9:31pm] yari: Fair enougn. Thank you Bosun. Moving on to old business. We have a data reciprocity proposal that was tabled last time to allow for people to view it. Link: https://etherpad.pp-international.net/p/USPP2021DataSharingProposal
[9:31pm] papegaai: Title: Etherpad (at etherpad.pp-international.net)
[9:32pm] yari: Opening up discussion and giving time for people to read it
[9:33pm] jokeefe: I made some edits
[9:33pm] Bosun: I see that.
[9:33pm] yari: I saw, and they are appreciated as a friendly gesture
[9:33pm] rcarro joined the chat room.
[9:33pm] rcarro: damnit midwestern internet
[9:34pm] Bosun: I move we accept this proposal.
[9:34pm] yari: motion on the table
[9:34pm] rcarro: what proposal
[9:34pm] rcarro: I couldn’t se e
[9:34pm] yari: https://etherpad.pp-international.net/p/USPP2021DataSharingProposal
[9:34pm] papegaai: Title: Etherpad (at etherpad.pp-international.net)
[9:35pm] Joe: 2nd
[9:35pm] rcarro: Only 1 person from the state has
[9:35pm] yari: MA has seconded
[9:35pm] rcarro: Access?
[9:36pm] yari: rCarro, if you are referring to the word "organizers" it is not the same as "representative"
[9:36pm] rcarro: so Mitch would have access
[9:36pm] yari: and so would you, if mitch decided it
[9:36pm] yari: but only to the IL contacts
[9:36pm] yari: moving on - all in favor?
[9:36pm] Bosun: aye
[9:37pm] Joe: Aye
[9:37pm] rcarro: Aye
[9:37pm] rcarro: If I have a vote
[9:37pm] pmchi: Aye
[9:37pm] pmchi: I believe I’m the voting member
[9:37pm] rcarro: oh sorry
[9:38pm] rcarro: I forgot
[9:38pm] yari: IL has one vote for you to decide among yoruselves
[9:38pm] yari: either way, the vote passes
[9:38pm] yari: motion passed
[9:38pm] yari: IT committee is so directed
[9:38pm] yari: there is no further old business, so we move on to new business
[9:39pm] yari: First on the agenda is the uhhh... Iowa? no wait... Indiana Pirates are here to ask for admission into the PNC
[9:40pm] wodensday: You did that on purpose
[9:40pm] yari: I mean, yes?
[9:40pm] wodensday: But yes.
[9:40pm] pmchi: Damn “I” states
[9:40pm] yari: Who is here to sponsor them?
[9:40pm] pmchi: That will be Illinois
[9:40pm] wodensday: The Indiana Pirates would like to apply for state membership, and we look for Illinois to sponsor us.
[9:40pm] yari: wonderful
[9:41pm] yari: Then would IL please make a motion as such
[9:41pm] Joe: Yearly fee is $1.00
[9:41pm] rcarro: I make a motion to sponsor IN
[9:41pm] yari: wodensday, if you would submit your evidence of fulfilling the requirements?
[9:42pm] wodensday: We have an active online presence via our website indianapirates.org and our accompanying social media.
[9:42pm] wodensday: We are actively looking to grow. In fact, we just doubled our membership size a few weeks ago! (By moving from one pirate to 2)
[9:43pm] wodensday: While my friend Chris Tidmarsh was unable to make it this evening, he is an active member of the Indiana Pirate Party and looks to fulfill one of the representative positions.
[9:44pm] Joe: Is there only 2 of you?
[9:44pm] yari: Upon approval, who would be acting as the primary representative?
[9:44pm] wodensday: I would be acting as the primary representative.
[9:45pm] wodensday: Joe, yes. As of now.
[9:45pm] Bosun: We would prefer you dig up a third.
[9:45pm] Bosun: Member that is.
[9:45pm] rcarro: Bosun, can VA become a partybwith 1
[9:46pm] rcarro: Member
[9:46pm] wodensday: No, you must have at least two.
[9:46pm] rcarro: figured
[9:46pm] wodensday: I fully understand if that is the consensus that is reached. We can do our best to grow our size and report back some other time.
[9:46pm] wodensday: However, right now we do have only two members.
[9:46pm] Joe: 3 is preferred though, breaks up arguments.
[9:46pm] wodensday: We do, however, fulfill everything asked of us in the current bylaws.
[9:47pm] Joe: Wodensday, if you remain consistent, members will join you.
[9:47pm] yari: Per the wording of the bylaws, this is a valid request for membership in the PNC. rCarro just made a motion - pmchi does rCarro's motion represent the will of the IL reps?
[9:47pm] wodensday: Joe, that is most definitely our intention.
[9:48pm] Joe: Jokeefe is our rock. <3
[9:48pm] rcarro: we all know that the ILPirstes are the
[9:48pm] yari: I will point out that both IL and IN have been meeting every other week (perhaps every week) for some time now
[9:48pm] rcarro: best
[9:48pm] pmchi: Yes is does
[9:49pm] wodensday: If I may, before the inevitable judgement I would like to ask for a quick soapbox
[9:49pm] Bosun: WI will defer to the general concensus.
[9:49pm] yari: pmchi in that case - we have a motion on the table. wodensday go ahead
[9:49pm] yari: motion on the table is as such: IL sponsors IN pirates to become full members of the PNC
[9:49pm] rcarro: I’m sorry bosun about WI, I moved
[9:50pm] Bosun: Let's move forward.
[9:50pm] rcarro: yep
[9:50pm] wodensday: At this current overall size of the PNC, finding consistent and active members for the state of Indiana will be a bit of a difficult task. I feel lucky enough to have found one. If Indiana is offered a seat at the table, the overall might of the PNC will increase, and I have no doubts that will positively effect the side of IN in time.
[9:51pm] wodensday: size*
[9:51pm] rcarro: But IL has 3 members
[9:51pm] wodensday: That is all
[9:51pm] rcarro: if theeeea a disagreement
[9:51pm] rcarro: it will be hard for u 2
[9:51pm] yari: there is a motion on the table, and we have all had time to think on it.
[9:51pm] yari: I will ask for any seconds from the voting members
[9:51pm] yari: WI and MA
[9:52pm] Joe: It took many moons for the mass pirates to grow to the size it is, just be patient with yourself.
[9:52pm] Joe: 2nd
[9:52pm] Bosun: 2nd
[9:52pm] yari: all in favor?
[9:52pm] Joe: Aye
[9:52pm] Bosun: aye
[9:52pm] pmchi: Aye
[9:52pm] yari: the motion is passed, IN becomes a full member of the PNC
[9:52pm] Bosun: Is yari voting CA?
[9:52pm] yari: no
[9:53pm] yari: I am chair, I cannot vote
[9:53pm] rcarro: congrats IN
[9:53pm] yari: CA is simply treated as absent for this meeting
[9:53pm] wodensday: Thank you all, we won't let you down
[9:53pm] yari: congrats to IN
[9:53pm] pmchi: Congratulations to our Hoosier Pirates
[9:53pm] jokeefe: welcome aboard
[9:53pm] rcarro: do pirate candidates receive help
[9:54pm] rcarro: from the PNC
[9:54pm] yari: as much as can be offered, rCarro
[9:54pm] rcarro: alright
[9:54pm] wodensday: I am very happy that we've been able to get here. I look forward to where we go next
[9:54pm] rcarro left the chat room. (Quit: Connection closed)
[9:54pm] yari: okay with that taken care of, are there any other items of new business?
[9:54pm] rcarro joined the chat room.
[9:55pm] rcarro: do we have any other business
[9:55pm] Joe: Wodensday, I will be happy to discuss some things that help us organize if you like.
[9:55pm] wodensday: You know I have one, but I think we're cutting too close for that one
[9:55pm] wodensday: Joe, I would love that
[9:55pm] pmchi: Should I talk about the two green parties?
[9:55pm] wodensday: Y e s
[9:55pm] wodensday: I was going to ask how that was going
[9:55pm] rcarro: Please!
[9:55pm] rcarro: We should make friends with greens
[9:56pm] yari: pmchi - please elaborate. we have time for this
[9:56pm] rcarro: to an extent, libertarians
[9:56pm] yari: so long as its brief
[9:56pm] jokeefe: They do in Europe already
[9:56pm] rcarro: ?
[9:57pm] Joe: Recruitment of Greens is better
[9:57pm] rcarro: I wonder if we could get greens to
[9:57pm] jokeefe: Pirates in the EU parliament are in the Greens/EFA group, rcarro
[9:57pm] rcarro: support pirate candidates
[9:58pm] wodensday: Mitch has the opportunity to
[9:58pm] rcarro: I was thinking of telling Mitch that
[9:58pm] rcarro: if we can make a LP-Greens,Pirate
[9:58pm] rcarro: Thing in support for Mitch
[9:58pm] rcarro: it’s great
[9:58pm] pmchi: So some of you may or may not be aware, but the Green Party USA disaffiliated two Green Parties this past year, Rhode Island and Alaska, leaving them two state parties without a national affiliation. Reason for disaffiliation was that they nominated candidates who weren’t Hawkins. The GPUSA already said they will be seeking to form new state Green Parties, while the old parties will remain without a national affiliation. So I was
[9:58pm] pmchi: thinking: what if we reached out and invited these ready-made parties into the USPP?
[9:59pm] rcarro: a GREAT IDEA
[9:59pm] yari: discussion or motions in favor or tabling?
[9:59pm] yari: (or against, if you want)
[9:59pm] rcarro: motion to favor
[9:59pm] Joe: Motion to table until next week
[9:59pm] rcarro: but
[10:00pm] rcarro: these would push us to somewhere
[10:00pm] rcarro: idk about it now
[10:00pm] rcarro: mixed feelings
[10:00pm] pmchi: Second Joe’s motion. I think this needs proper discussion
[10:00pm] Joe: And then motion to adjourn
[10:00pm] rcarro: greens don’t 100 percent match with
[10:00pm] rcarro: us
[10:00pm] rcarro: so that’s he interesting
[10:00pm] yari: all in favor of tabling?
[10:00pm] wodensday: Aye
[10:00pm] pmchi: Aye
[10:00pm] Bosun: aye
[10:00pm] Joe: Aye
[10:00pm] wodensday: (God the adrenaline rush)
[10:00pm] wodensday: (My first aye)
[10:01pm] yari: haha okay fantastic, this will be put on the agenda for next time
[10:01pm] yari: motion passes the item is tabled
[10:01pm] yari: thank you pmchi
[10:01pm] rcarro: Yeah so Mitch and joe, after meetin
[10:01pm] yari: we have a motion to adjourn on the table
[10:01pm] jokeefe: MassPirates could reach out to RI.
[10:01pm] yari: any 2nds?
[10:01pm] rcarro: Can we talk
[10:01pm] wodensday: Also may I note that the difference between green policy and pirate policy is no bigger than from one pirate to another
[10:01:52 PM] <wodensday> On average
[10:01:55 PM] <rcarro> the prog con pirates
[10:02:02 PM] <wodensday> I second the motion to adjourn for now
[10:02:08 PM] <rcarro> could be affected by ohs
[10:02:12 PM] <yari> all in favor of adjourning?
[10:02:16 PM] <pmchi> Aye
[10:02:16 PM] <Joe> Aye
[10:02:19 PM] <wodensday> Aye
[10:02:27 PM] <Bosun> aye
[10:02:43 PM] <yari> with that, this meeting of the PNC is adjourned at 10:02pm EST
