State Parties

Arizona

Arizona held a special election to fill their outreach director vacancy. Their IT committee met recently and discussed the cyber-security of their website. They also intend to improve their about-us section on their web-page. Their plunder hunger food drive has been a success and they are planning to have future food drives. There also is a protest against the closing of IHS in Tuscon planned for July 5th.

Maryland

MDPP met with DMV pirates at Dragon's Den and handed out flyers there for the party. Handed out around 40 fliers and a few people were interested. There are plans for future in-person meetings in the future.

Old Business

Discussion on 2026 Conference and Thoughts on 2027 Conference Location.

Jitsi was mentioned as cumbersome for participation virtually at the conference. Baltimore, Mobile, Arizona, and Sparks NV were all mentioned as possible places for a conference. Drew suggested that a state party should be willing to host. A deadline of August 9th was set for submitting a location, with a subsequent deadline of September 6th for the PNC to decide a location.

New Business

Dropping Texas to Probationary Status

Joe made the motion to drop Texas to probationary status with Wanda seconding.

The argument presented was: They have not had an active website for a while; their social media accounts are inactive; Texas is no longer an active state party.

Right to Repair Plank

  • The following was sent to PNC from platform committee.
  • We believe purchasing is ownership: whether you buy a tractor, a motorcycle, or an iPhone, you should own the device. You should be able to diagnose problems with software and be able to fix it yourself or take it to any repair shop of your choosing. We support repealing section 1201 of the DMCA. This would allow for repair and diagnosis to occur without being treated as criminal conduct. We also support fair and non-discriminatory access. Manufacturers must provide to consumers and independent repair shops the same resources that they would provide to their own service channels.

  • Wanda moved to adopt right to repair plank Drew seconded.
  • Arizona - aye
  • Florida - aye
  • Illinois - Absent
  • Indiana - aye
  • Maryland - aye
  • Massachusetts - aye
  • Ohio - aye
  • Pennsylvania - aye
  • motion passed 7-0

Prediction Markets Platform Addition

  • Platform sent the following to the PNC for an addition to the putting individuals before institutions plank:

  • We will ban betting on sports, war, and political outcomes in prediction markets, while imposing extensive prohibitions on insider trading.
