This is a Pirate guide to clawing privacy from the corporations, governments and other entities.

The most important thing to be said is that privacy is a journey and there are many ways to do it. It is easy to be overwhelmed, and it is unrealistic to defeat every possible threat. This resource will focus on a few things as priority:

  • Subverting surveillance capitalism
  • Preferring decentralized, local solutions under your control
  • Rewarding businesses that behave better than mainstream ones
  • Reducing your exposure to dragnets and casual government abuses, foreign and domestic

This guide is not effective at deterring targeted government action, and should not be considered 'a guide to being anonymous' nor especially effective for activist use beyond introductory ideas. It is opinionated and everything you find should be read with a critical eye.

Other resources

Other resources are put together with different priorities and groups of different sizes. They might be useful, or more what you are looking for.

These would include privacyguides, techlore, etc, as listed on the library in recent edits.
