A cheap house in a food desert hours away from the nearest hospital should not be lauded as affordable or accessible. As a start for recognizing this right we propose the following:

We have robbed generations of Americans of their childhoods by forcing everyone into a car including those unable to drive. We have polluted our cities by enshrining cars as the only reliable means of transportation. We have destroyed the formerly thriving passenger rail industry through a trillion dollar investment into the national highway system. We will:

Consensus was if he wanted such a change, the correct method is to ask his state rep to amend the platform as such, or ask the Platform Committee to bring such an amendment to PNC.

Bale mentioned that age discrimination in housing is currently illegal, but enforcement is lackluster. It is more enforced in owner to owner sales or in more formal rental situations, but frequently other aspects are used as proxies for age. He proposed to further prohibit the ability of landlord to illegal discrimination that a detailed report shall be provided to an applicant for a rental,. mortgage, home loan application, etc. in the case of denial with a detailed reasoning.

Ward brought up that "Eliminate single family only zoning in our densest cities" is restrictive language even though it is increasing the freedoms of the owner. A more libertarian phrasing of "Restructure residential zoning categories to allow for all types of housing, including ADUs, to be built in areas zoned for residential" was proposed.

It was brought up as the plank covered Housing and Transit, that it should be called housing and transit.

Interstate Conflict Resolution If two or more states have a concern or issue with each other, then first we are to have the captain's of each state set an official meeting and report to the PNC chair. If the captain's of each involved state are unable to reach a resolution, then the issue must be raised to the chair or vice-chair. From there, it is at the discretion of the PNC chair or vice chair to bring the issue to a PNC meeting or send to mediation via the Lookout. If brought to the PNC, it would fall under emergency resolution and thus have to be addressed immediately. If the issue is sent to the Lookout, then both parties will have ample opportunities to resolve the issue on their own or through the mediation process. Both resolution methods will be binding and made public if utilized.

==Putting Individuals Before Institutions==
The Pirate Party stands for individuals over institutions, both governmental and non-governmental. We believe that the people hold the ultimate power in this nation, and institutions should not exist to crush the will of the people. With the backdrop of Citizens United and a steady erosion of individual power, taking money out of politics ensures our government serves the people rather than deep-pocketed interests. The United States Pirate Party will always put the needs of the people first and work to reform institutions that do not serve them.
==Right to Repair==
We believe purchasing is ownership: whether you buy a tractor, a motorcycle, or an iPhone, you should own the device. You should be able to diagnose problems with software and be able to fix it yourself or take it to any repair shop of your choosing. We support repealing section 1201 of the DMCA. This would allow for repair and diagnosis to occur without being treated as criminal conduct. We also support fair and non-discriminatory access. Manufacturers must provide to consumers and independent repair shops the same resources that they would provide to their own service channels.
==Opening up Government==
In order for citizens to control their democratic destiny, we need to know what our government is doing and which special interests are influencing our public elected officials. Increasingly government officials ignore open meeting laws, make deals favorable to corporations behind closed doors and sell off your  public information to private interests. Some state laws prevent people from recording public officials in their duties, such as a police officer making an arrest, but the police cameras can record your actions without your permission. The Pirate Party will make sure that our government is transparent and accountable to the people.

As it currently stands, America’s electoral system is broken. Two political parties have entrenched themselves, and they prevent other viewpoints from being heard. To address this, the Pirate Party proposes that legislatures should be elected via proportional representation, candidates should have less barriers to ballot access, and voter registration should be automatic.
==Defending Your Privacy==
Whether it was the PATRIOT ACT, illegal NSA wiretapping or local surveillance cameras, our government has used 9/11 to increase its surveillance and control over us. Corporations have increased their spying on employees in order to get more work out of them. The arguments for each step on the road to a surveillance  state may sound convincing, but that road leads to less control by people and more by government and corporate elites. Terrorists may attack the open society, but only governments can abolish it. The Pirate Party will prevent that from happening.
==Promoting Culture & Knowledge Through Copyright Reform==
The Founding Fathers created our copyright laws to promote knowledge & culture by giving the creator a limited monopoly over their creations. Congress, under the influence of corporations, has extended the duration of that government granted monopoly to seventy years after the death of the creator. Increasingly corporations have sought broader laws to ensure that they control and profit from more of our culture. Through Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies they have locked down our culture, hindered sharing and criminalized their customers.

The Pirate Party will:
*limit the copyright to five years for electronic media and fourteen years for tangible objects,
*make sure that all non-commercial copying, sharing and remixing are legal and
*ban DRM software.

There is no reason for copyright to continue until 70 years after death.

Everyone must have equal access to the internet, and the Pirate Party will foster network neutrality so that internet service providers cannot give preferential treatment to preferred web sites and we oppose three strikes laws that ban anyone from using the internet because of copyright violations. The internet has the potential to be a new Library of Alexandria, if we don’t let corporations and government lock it down.

==Fostering Innovation by Abolishing Patents==
We seek the abolition of patents. The patent system stifles innovation by making it difficult to incorporate an existing invention into a new one. It discourages researchers from sharing their new ideas until after a patent application. It prevents hundreds of thousands of people in poor countries from receiving the drugs they need. Currently pharmaceutical companies spend only 15% of their revenue on new drug research. The remaining 85% is spent on activities such as marketing and profit taking. A reformed system would dramatically increase the money available for innovation, while removing the obstacles to innovation posed by the current patent system.
==Police Reform==
We believe that major police reform is not only a legitimate idea, but a necessity. Due to the divisive and hot button nature of this topic, the USPP is dedicated to finding quality solutions that can be agreed upon by the vast majority. Here are a few steps we can take towards reform:
*Demilitarize the police through actions such as ending the 1033 Program and discouraging technique sharing between the neighborhood police and the military or federal intelligence agencies;
*End qualified immunity and hold officers accountable when they break the law;
*End civil asset forfeiture and its enabling of “slush funds” to be used for any purpose;
*Invest money into community care instead of more policing, especially in areas currently impacted by over-policing;
*Require warrants for all forms of surveillance and end no-knock warrants;
*Force departments to collect statistics in order to outline biases in enforcement and which enforcement methods are better for the community;
*Ensure nobody is put in jail for actions of basic survival;
*Properly train our police forces with regular training in all aspects of the job. This will include but not limited to mental health assessments, first responder medical certification, community policing, & public engagement.
*Ending cash bail
*Ending prison slavery
==Bigotry==
We proudly condemn bigotry as irrational and repugnant. We believe this behavior to be fundamentally incompatible with our core values. Pirates stand for everyone, even when others do not.
==Bodily Autonomy Plank==
We believe that bodily autonomy should be universally protected with federal legislation or constitutional amendment rather than being protected by unstable court decisions or state governments. Everyone has the right to make decisions about their body without unjustified government interference. Limited evidence based public health regulations are appropriate to insure herd immunity, but the government must not use them to deny bodily autonomy.

Abortion is critical healthcare. Further restrictions on abortion have caused severe harms, when already the United States has the highest maternal mortality in the developed world. We will enact federal legislation protecting the right to an abortion. We will repeal the Hyde Amendment and guarantee abortion access with interstate-travel protections and legal protections for healthcare providers. To further enshrine abortion access, and close the door for future meddling, the Comstock Act should be repealed. We will ensure affordable access to contraception, IVF, and we will prohibit forced or coerced sterilization.

We will pass legislation affirming Lawrence v. Texas & Martin v. Ziherl and the right of consenting adults to engage in private sexual activity. We will ban conversion therapy federally, as it's an abhorrent archaic practice with no place in a free society.

We will decriminalize consensual adult sex work, while maintaining strong laws against trafficking, exploitation, violence, coercion and abuse of minors. Criminalization pushes sex workers away from healthcare and labor protections and drastically increases the rate of abuse.
We will protect access to gender affirming care, including puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgery. Morphological freedom is a critical aspect of bodily autonomy. We will guarantee an informed consent model nationally for those seeking gender affirming care. We will remove unnecessary barriers to care and deschedule testosterone. Through federal legislation, we will make legal gender based on a self-identification system, and recognize a third gender. The cost to change one’s legal name should be affordable. We will ban elective surgeries on intersex infants without an immediate medical concern.

==Foreign Policy==
We advocate for the right to free association and self-determination. We believe people living in a political entity should have the right to maintain, alter or conclude their relationship to larger entities, or join in union, if it is the will of the people. We affirm the right to free movement. The foreign policy of the United States has not reflected those values.
=== International Law ===

To hold ourselves accountable to the standards we expect of other countries, we believe the United States should

* Ratify the Rome Statute and repeal the Hague Invasion Act.
* Join the Ottawa Treaty and the CCM treaty
* Ratify the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and join the High Seas Treaty.
* Ratify Protocol I and II to the Geneva Conventions.
* Make all international treaties self-executing, and engage with the system of international law without substantive carve-outs.
* Pay UN dues in full and on time.

The same standard applies to what we fund abroad. We should give no military aid to any undemocratic country including the genocidal apartheid state of Israel.
=== Pan-Americanism ===

In our own hemisphere, decades of embargo and sanction have punished populations without changing the governments they were aimed at. The United States has not been a good neighbor. We believe that through the OAS or other Pan-American organizations we should foster genuine collaboration and friendship. We should end the Cuban embargo, close Guantanamo Bay, lift sanctions on Nicaragua and end the occupation of Venezuela. Legislation should be passed explicitly preventing the US government and its intelligence agencies from covertly interfering with elections anywhere. This is only a start to what needs to be done to repair relations in the Americas.
=== Trade and Sanctions ===

We strive for free trade and free movement of peoples, as it will lead to a higher quality of life for everyone. Unfortunately, sanctions and tariffs will remain a tool of policy for the foreseeable future. They should be bounded in time and should be targeted at governments like those of Russia and China which continually infringe upon their citizens human rights. There should be permanent humanitarian exemptions in sanctions for food and medicine. Sunset clauses and mandatory congressional reauthorization should be attached to any sanctions or tariff regime.
=== Military Spending ===

Our force structure should be sized to the missions we actually intend to carry out. The US military is by far the most powerful in the world, it is an unjustifiable level of over-preparedness. With the goal of reducing US military spending to 50% of its current level over the next 15 years, we should reevaluate our defense spending priorities. Savings should first come from contractors. We should restore competitive bidding as the default. We should require certified cost and pricing data on every part a military contractor sells us. The Pentagon budget should be cut every year it fails an audit, and most overseas bases should be closed. We should pair this drawdown with a doubling of the peace corps.
=== Nuclear Weapons ===

While nuclear weapons will certainly remain an essential part of US military capability for the foreseeable future, our nuclear strategy should be aimed at the eventual goal of a world without them. To that end:

* We should negotiate an expanded New START successor treaty to govern a mutual drawdown in nuclear weapons, within a framework that can include all nuclear powers.
* We should adopt a legally binding no-first-use policy for nuclear weapons.
* We should ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.

=== War Powers ===

Congress must also reclaim its constitutional authority over the use of force. The 2001 AUMF should be repealed, and the War Powers Act should be amended to close loopholes and strengthen enforcement.

The War Powers Act should be updated to require congressional authorization before introducing US forces into any hostilities, except to repel an actual armed attack on the United States. Any such emergency use of force should terminate automatically, with appropriations cut off, absent congressional authorization within 30 days.

The definition of hostilities should be expanded to explicitly include drone strikes, standoff strikes, special operations raids, offensive cyber operations, direct support to belligerents, and any other comparable use of force that successive presidents have used to avoid congressional oversight and conduct illegal wars. Individual members of Congress should be granted standing to sue for unauthorized uses of force, with expedited review and political-question dismissal barred.

==Clean Water==
Water is life, and it belongs to everyone. As a core part of the commons, it must never be polluted, privatized, or restricted for profit. Decades of deregulation, judicial rollbacks, corporate influence, and government negligence have left communities poisoned and ecosystems collapsing. “Self-regulation” has consistently failed; polluters place profit above public health, and our waterways have paid the price. Pirates refuse to let rivers, lakes, aquifers, and seas become dumping grounds for corporate abuse or political indifference.

Water must be stewarded transparently, democratically, and with the protection of future generations in mind. It is a human right, a public trust, and a shared responsibility.

The Pirate Party Will:
*Defend water as a protected common resource and guarantee universal access to safe, affordable drinking water.
*Keep water systems under democratic public control; oppose privatization and profiteering from essential water services.
*Reject any laws, rulings, or policies that weaken environmental protections or reduce accountability for polluters.
*Demand strict penalties, mandatory cleanup, and full public oversight for all contamination events.
*Ban water shutoffs due to inability to pay.
*Promote lead pipe replacement, PFAS remediation, building of desalinization plants and climate-resilient water infrastructure.
*Require open, real-time, public, and interoperable data on water quality, spending, infrastructure, and contamination.
*Support community-driven stewardship of waterways, including local boards, cooperatives, and open-data monitoring.
*Advance the development and adoption of safe, environmentally inert materials and processes that cannot poison water through accident or abuse.
*Promote scientific innovation and sustainable materials engineering that provide alternatives to harmful substances.
*Protect Indigenous water rights and uphold treaty obligations.

Clean water is not negotiable. Pirates stand for clean seas, healthy waterways, and a future where every community has the power, the data, and the resources to defend its water. We will fight to protect it, restore it, and ensure it flows freely for generations to come.

We did not have quorum for the meeting but we did have a lot of discussions about the next steps. There was no Outreach & Committee Updates. The Campaign Rally didn’t go as well as we hoped as only two people were there(me including). We did record a speech but the fact remains that the rally was a bust which is disappointing and unacceptable to say the least. Having such a rally while having to pay 250+ for it with such a result is just not something to try again going forward without more people joining the party and a better way of getting the word out. It’s just fruitless. Which means going back to the drawing board and increasing our outreach efforts. Most of the meeting was discussing strategies and reassessing whats next for the AZPP in that vein of prioritizing outreach efforts. Including creating an Outreach Action Plan to better plan out our outreach, finding ways to meet more people. Soon starting up Outreach Committee Again to get the ball rolling on that as well. Also we do plan to try and go to Phoenix again and try and find another date for the saber event we planned on attending in Phoenix. That said, we also plan to put as many of the signs as we can that we have around the strategic places we mentioned before. We planted one today(as of writing this) outside of the Oro Valley Library. The straight skinny from the meeting is just to increase our Outreach efforts to have more people join the party who can help us more.

We did not have quorum for the meeting but we did have a lot of discussions about the next steps. There was no Outreach & Committee Updates. The Campaign Rally didn’t go as well as we hoped as only two people were there(me including). We did record a speech but the fact remains that the rally was a bust which is disappointing and unacceptable to say the least. Having such a rally while having to pay 250+ for it with such a result is just not something to try again going forward without more people joining the party and a better way of getting the word out. It’s just fruitless. Which means going back to the drawing board and increasing our outreach efforts. Most of the meeting was discussing strategies and reassessing whats next for the AZPP in that vein of prioritizing outreach efforts. Including creating an Outreach Action Plan to better plan out our outreach, finding ways to meet more people. Soon starting up Outreach Committee Again to get the ball rolling on that as well. Also we do plan to try and go to Phoenix again and try and find another date for the saber event we planned on attending in Phoenix. That said, we also plan to put as many of the signs as we can that we have around the strategic places we mentioned before. We planted one today(as of writing this) outside of the Oro Valley Library. The straight skinny from the meeting is just to increase our Outreach efforts to have more people join the party who can help us more.

At the September 1st platform meeting the following was approved to be sent to the PNC for consideration as a new platform plank.

We believe that bodily autonomy should be universally protected with federal legislation or constitutional amendment rather than being protected by unstable court decisions or state governments. Everyone has the right to make decisions about their body without unjustified government interference. Limited evidence based public health regulations are appropriate to insure herd immunity, but the government must not use them to deny bodily autonomy.

Abortion is critical healthcare. Further restrictions on abortion have caused severe harms, when already the United States has the highest maternal mortality in the developed world. We will enact federal legislation protecting the right to an abortion. We will repeal the Hyde Amendment and guarantee abortion access with interstate-travel protections and legal protections for healthcare providers. To further enshrine abortion access, and close the door for future meddling, the Comstock Act should be repealed. We will ensure affordable access to contraception, IVF, and we will prohibit forced or coerced sterilization.

We will pass legislation affirming Lawrence v. Texas & Martin v. Ziherl and the right of consenting adults to engage in private sexual activity. We will ban conversion therapy federally, as it's an abhorrent archaic practice with no place in a free society.

We will decriminalize consensual adult sex work, while maintaining strong laws against trafficking, exploitation, violence, coercion and abuse of minors. Criminalization pushes sex workers away from healthcare and labor protections and drastically increases the rate of abuse.
We will protect access to gender affirming care, including puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgery. Morphological freedom is a critical aspect of bodily autonomy. We will guarantee an informed consent model nationally for those seeking gender affirming care. We will remove unnecessary barriers to care and deschedule testosterone. Through federal legislation, we will make legal gender based on a self-identification system, and recognize a third gender. The cost to change one’s legal name should be affordable. We will ban elective surgeries on intersex infants without an immediate medical concern.

We are preparing for the campaign rally tomorrow from 10 to 12 at a nearby park. We will do meet and greet, offer pamphlets, have a speech then go from there. Write In Campaign: Yard Signs/Video Ads/Organizing First Campaign Rally: Our 10 yard signs came in on Wednesday morning and we received them the next day. They look amazing! We will be placing them in strategic places around the Legislative District 17 such as intersections on important roads(ie Tangerine & Oracle roads), libraries intersections, near campuses, etc. We are also organizing a Campaign rally at the Naranja Park in Oro Valley for either the 7th or the 14th. We will be giving speeches, offering soliciting materials, etc and such and hopefully get some news media present for the rally and spread the word as much as we could with flyers. We are working on securing the rental for the park as soon as possible. Phoenix event decision: We made a decision. On September 9th, we will be attending a Saber practice in Tempe(Eastern Phoenix)! However, after Devon discussing with the Tohono Chair, trying to host a rally/protest but any rally must be hosted by an enrolled tribal member of the TO tribe, other wise us doing is not possible. So we would have to find another way.

*Tabling at Libraries Idea/Canvasing: We brought up the idea of tabling at libraries and canvassing on a regular basis for the AZPP and the Write In Campaign and more or less agreed to do it without much deliberation. It was pretty much a done deal. Merch Update: We made some updates with the merch. Things have progressed slowly, production has been difficult to establish. That said, we are working on the promised t shirts to those who won the t shirt contest a while back and go from there on production. Tucson Itinerary for PNC Conference Update: We talked about Tucson for being a potential hosting city for the PNC Conference. We addressed and discussed what was necessary/expected of us, included ideas and such to give an expectation of what tucson could bring as a host city.

=====Foreign Policy=====
We advocate for the right to free association and self-determination. We believe people living in a political entity should have the right to maintain, alter or conclude their relationship to larger entities, or join in union, if it is the will of the people. We affirm the right to free movement. The foreign policy of the United States has not reflected those values.
======International Law======
To hold ourselves accountable to the standards we expect of other countries, we believe the United States should
*Ratify the Rome Statute and repeal the Hague Invasion Act.
*Join the Ottawa Treaty and the CCM treaty
*Ratify the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and join the High Seas Treaty.
*Ratify Protocol I and II to the Geneva Conventions.
*Make all international treaties self-executing, and engage with the system of international law without substantive carve-outs.
*Pay UN dues in full and on time.

The same standard applies to what we fund abroad. We should give no military aid to any undemocratic country including the genocidal apartheid state of Israel.

======Pan-Americanism======
In our own hemisphere, decades of embargo and sanction have punished populations without changing the governments they were aimed at. The United States has not been a good neighbor. We believe that through the OAS or other Pan-American organizations we should foster genuine collaboration and friendship. We should end the Cuban embargo, close Guantanamo Bay, lift sanctions on Nicaragua and end the occupation of Venezuela. Legislation should be passed explicitly preventing the US government and its intelligence agencies from covertly interfering with elections anywhere. This is only a start to what needs to be done to repair relations in the Americas.
======Trade and Sanctions======
We strive for free trade and free movement of peoples, as it will lead to a higher quality of life for everyone. Unfortunately, sanctions and tariffs will remain a tool of policy for the foreseeable future. They should be bounded in time and should be targeted at governments like those of Russia and China which continually infringe upon their citizens human rights. There should be permanent humanitarian exemptions in sanctions for food and medicine. Sunset clauses and mandatory congressional reauthorization should be attached to any sanctions or tariff regime.
======Military Spending======
Our force structure should be sized to the missions we actually intend to carry out. The US military is by far the most powerful in the world, it is an unjustifiable level of over-preparedness. With the goal of reducing US military spending to 50% of its current level over the next 15 years, we should reevaluate our defense spending priorities. Savings should first come from contractors. We should restore competitive bidding as the default. We should require certified cost and pricing data on every part a military contractor sells us. The Pentagon budget should be cut every year it fails an audit, and most overseas bases should be closed. We should pair this drawdown with a doubling of the peace corps.
======Nuclear Weapons======
While nuclear weapons will certainly remain an essential part of US military capability for the foreseeable future, our nuclear strategy should be aimed at the eventual goal of a world without them. To that end:
*We should negotiate an expanded New START successor treaty to govern a mutual drawdown in nuclear weapons, within a framework that can include all nuclear powers.
*We should adopt a legally binding no-first-use policy for nuclear weapons.
*We should ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.
======War Powers======
Congress must also reclaim its constitutional authority over the use of force. The 2001 AUMF should be repealed, and the War Powers Act should be amended to close loopholes and strengthen enforcement.

The War Powers Act should be updated to require congressional authorization before introducing US forces into any hostilities, except to repel an actual armed attack on the United States. Any such emergency use of force should terminate automatically, with appropriations cut off, absent congressional authorization within 30 days.

The definition of hostilities should be expanded to explicitly include drone strikes, standoff strikes, special operations raids, offensive cyber operations, direct support to belligerents, and any other comparable use of force that successive presidents have used to avoid congressional oversight and conduct illegal wars. Individual members of Congress should be granted standing to sue for unauthorized uses of force, with expedited review and political-question dismissal barred.

Devon went to the Gloo Factory and that the Factory will edit the signs a little bit to make the sign look better and more effective. We will have the 10 signs next week. ==Putting Individuals Before Institutions==
The Pirate Party stands for individuals over institutions, both governmental and non-governmental. We believe that the people hold the ultimate power in this nation, and institutions should not exist to crush the will of the people. With the backdrop of Citizens United and a steady erosion of individual power, taking money out of politics ensures our government serves the people rather than deep-pocketed interests. The United States Pirate Party will always put the needs of the people first and work to reform institutions that do not serve them.
==Right to Repair==
We believe purchasing is ownership: whether you buy a tractor, a motorcycle, or an iPhone, you should own the device. You should be able to diagnose problems with software and be able to fix it yourself or take it to any repair shop of your choosing. We support repealing section 1201 of the DMCA. This would allow for repair and diagnosis to occur without being treated as criminal conduct. We also support fair and non-discriminatory access. Manufacturers must provide to consumers and independent repair shops the same resources that they would provide to their own service channels.
==Opening up Government==
In order for citizens to control their democratic destiny, we need to know what our government is doing and which special interests are influencing our public elected officials. Increasingly government officials ignore open meeting laws, make deals favorable to corporations behind closed doors and sell off your  public information to private interests. Some state laws prevent people from recording public officials in their duties, such as a police officer making an arrest, but the police cameras can record your actions without your permission. The Pirate Party will make sure that our government is transparent and accountable to the people.

As it currently stands, America’s electoral system is broken. Two political parties have entrenched themselves, and they prevent other viewpoints from being heard. To address this, the Pirate Party proposes that legislatures should be elected via proportional representation, candidates should have less barriers to ballot access, and voter registration should be automatic.
==Defending Your Privacy==
Whether it was the PATRIOT ACT, illegal NSA wiretapping or local surveillance cameras, our government has used 9/11 to increase its surveillance and control over us. Corporations have increased their spying on employees in order to get more work out of them. The arguments for each step on the road to a surveillance  state may sound convincing, but that road leads to less control by people and more by government and corporate elites. Terrorists may attack the open society, but only governments can abolish it. The Pirate Party will prevent that from happening.
==Promoting Culture & Knowledge Through Copyright Reform==
The Founding Fathers created our copyright laws to promote knowledge & culture by giving the creator a limited monopoly over their creations. Congress, under the influence of corporations, has extended the duration of that government granted monopoly to seventy years after the death of the creator. Increasingly corporations have sought broader laws to ensure that they control and profit from more of our culture. Through Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies they have locked down our culture, hindered sharing and criminalized their customers.

The Pirate Party will:
*limit the copyright to five years for electronic media and fourteen years for tangible objects,
*make sure that all non-commercial copying, sharing and remixing are legal and
*ban DRM software.

There is no reason for copyright to continue until 70 years after death.

Everyone must have equal access to the internet, and the Pirate Party will foster network neutrality so that internet service providers cannot give preferential treatment to preferred web sites and we oppose three strikes laws that ban anyone from using the internet because of copyright violations. The internet has the potential to be a new Library of Alexandria, if we don’t let corporations and government lock it down.

==Fostering Innovation by Abolishing Patents==
We seek the abolition of patents. The patent system stifles innovation by making it difficult to incorporate an existing invention into a new one. It discourages researchers from sharing their new ideas until after a patent application. It prevents hundreds of thousands of people in poor countries from receiving the drugs they need. Currently pharmaceutical companies spend only 15% of their revenue on new drug research. The remaining 85% is spent on activities such as marketing and profit taking. A reformed system would dramatically increase the money available for innovation, while removing the obstacles to innovation posed by the current patent system.
==Police Reform==
We believe that major police reform is not only a legitimate idea, but a necessity. Due to the divisive and hot button nature of this topic, the USPP is dedicated to finding quality solutions that can be agreed upon by the vast majority. Here are a few steps we can take towards reform:
*Demilitarize the police through actions such as ending the 1033 Program and discouraging technique sharing between the neighborhood police and the military or federal intelligence agencies;
*End qualified immunity and hold officers accountable when they break the law;
*End civil asset forfeiture and its enabling of “slush funds” to be used for any purpose;
*Invest money into community care instead of more policing, especially in areas currently impacted by over-policing;
*Require warrants for all forms of surveillance and end no-knock warrants;
*Force departments to collect statistics in order to outline biases in enforcement and which enforcement methods are better for the community;
*Ensure nobody is put in jail for actions of basic survival;
*Properly train our police forces with regular training in all aspects of the job. This will include but not limited to mental health assessments, first responder medical certification, community policing, & public engagement.

Water is life, and it belongs to everyone. As a core part of the commons, it must never be polluted, privatized, or restricted for profit. Decades of deregulation, judicial rollbacks, corporate influence, and government negligence have left communities poisoned and ecosystems collapsing. “Self-regulation” has consistently failed; polluters place profit above public health, and our waterways have paid the price. Pirates refuse to let rivers, lakes, aquifers, and seas become dumping grounds for corporate abuse or political indifference.

Water must be stewarded transparently, democratically, and with the protection of future generations in mind. It is a human right, a public trust, and a shared responsibility.

The Pirate Party Will:
*Defend water as a protected common resource and guarantee universal access to safe, affordable drinking water.
*Keep water systems under democratic public control; oppose privatization and profiteering from essential water services.

Tucson Itinerary for PNC Conference: We went over the needed Itinerary requirements for hosting PNC Conference, such as location, traveling, venues, etc and how we need to research each requirement necessary for Tucson, along with researching venues on Native land that we can host the conference at.

Pooling Donations: We reasserted that we need to start pooling donations for the better financial health of the party and the campaign.

Write In Campaign/Yard Sign/Video ads update: We went over the write in campaign again. Devon went to the Gloo Factory and that the Factory will edit the signs a little bit to make the sign look better and more effective. We will have the 10 signs next week. To that end, we strategized on the places to put the 10 signs since we have a limited number of them, such as near the library, campuses, busy intersections on Tangerine & Oracle Road, and near a busy intersection near Tanque Verde. Video ad is also going good with no issues as of late.

First Game Night Recap: We recapped Game Night on previous Tuesday. The technical difficulties with Xbox One, needing to pivot to EU4 after 30 minutes, live streamed playing EU4 for an hour and a half.

==Putting Individuals Before Institutions==
The Pirate Party stands for individuals over institutions, both governmental and non-governmental. We believe that the people hold the ultimate power in this nation, and institutions should not exist to crush the will of the people. With the backdrop of Citizens United and a steady erosion of individual power, taking money out of politics ensures our government serves the people rather than deep-pocketed interests. The United States Pirate Party will always put the needs of the people first and work to reform institutions that do not serve them.
==Right to Repair==
We believe purchasing is ownership: whether you buy a tractor, a motorcycle, or an iPhone, you should own the device. You should be able to diagnose problems with software and be able to fix it yourself or take it to any repair shop of your choosing. We support repealing section 1201 of the DMCA. This would allow for repair and diagnosis to occur without being treated as criminal conduct. We also support fair and non-discriminatory access. Manufacturers must provide to consumers and independent repair shops the same resources that they would provide to their own service channels.
==Opening up Government==
In order for citizens to control their democratic destiny, we need to know what our government is doing and which special interests are influencing our public elected officials. Increasingly government officials ignore open meeting laws, make deals favorable to corporations behind closed doors and sell off your  public information to private interests. Some state laws prevent people from recording public officials in their duties, such as a police officer making an arrest, but the police cameras can record your actions without your permission. The Pirate Party will make sure that our government is transparent and accountable to the people.

As it currently stands, America’s electoral system is broken. Two political parties have entrenched themselves, and they prevent other viewpoints from being heard. To address this, the Pirate Party proposes that legislatures should be elected via proportional representation, candidates should have less barriers to ballot access, and voter registration should be automatic.
==Defending Your Privacy==
Whether it was the PATRIOT ACT, illegal NSA wiretapping or local surveillance cameras, our government has used 9/11 to increase its surveillance and control over us. Corporations have increased their spying on employees in order to get more work out of them. The arguments for each step on the road to a surveillance  state may sound convincing, but that road leads to less control by people and more by government and corporate elites. Terrorists may attack the open society, but only governments can abolish it. The Pirate Party will prevent that from happening.
==Promoting Culture & Knowledge Through Copyright Reform==
The Founding Fathers created our copyright laws to promote knowledge & culture by giving the creator a limited monopoly over their creations. Congress, under the influence of corporations, has extended the duration of that government granted monopoly to seventy years after the death of the creator. Increasingly corporations have sought broader laws to ensure that they control and profit from more of our culture. Through Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies they have locked down our culture, hindered sharing and criminalized their customers.

The Pirate Party will:
*limit the copyright to five years for electronic media and fourteen years for tangible objects,
*make sure that all non-commercial copying, sharing and remixing are legal and
*ban DRM software.

There is no reason for copyright to continue until 70 years after death.

Everyone must have equal access to the internet, and the Pirate Party will foster network neutrality so that internet service providers cannot give preferential treatment to preferred web sites and we oppose three strikes laws that ban anyone from using the internet because of copyright violations. The internet has the potential to be a new Library of Alexandria, if we don’t let corporations and government lock it down.

==Fostering Innovation by Abolishing Patents==
We seek the abolition of patents. The patent system stifles innovation by making it difficult to incorporate an existing invention into a new one. It discourages researchers from sharing their new ideas until after a patent application. It prevents hundreds of thousands of people in poor countries from receiving the drugs they need. Currently pharmaceutical companies spend only 15% of their revenue on new drug research. The remaining 85% is spent on activities such as marketing and profit taking. A reformed system would dramatically increase the money available for innovation, while removing the obstacles to innovation posed by the current patent system.
==Police Reform==
We believe that major police reform is not only a legitimate idea, but a necessity. Due to the divisive and hot button nature of this topic, the USPP is dedicated to finding quality solutions that can be agreed upon by the vast majority. Here are a few steps we can take towards reform:
*Demilitarize the police through actions such as ending the 1033 Program and discouraging technique sharing between the neighborhood police and the military or federal intelligence agencies;

We proudly condemn bigotry as irrational and repugnant. We believe this behavior to be fundamentally incompatible with our core values. Pirates stand for everyone, even when others do not.
==Pan-Americanism==
Continents have been united in various ways, such as Europe in the form of the EU, Africa with the AU, or Southeast Asia with ASEAN. While the existence of the OAS (Organization of American States) signifies a previous willingness to come together in the name of Pan-Americanism, a restructuring from a paradigm of United States dominance to genuine collaboration and friendship is essential. A more united American Continent will help each country become stronger and create a stronger bond between every American, from Greenland to Patagonia.
*We advocate for increased diplomacy in Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, especially where we do not have a good record of friendly and diplomatic relations. We need to earn the trust of our fellow American countries in the New World by being a helpful ally rather than an overarching imperial authority.
*We advocate for increasing trade and signing friendship treaties with these countries in order to assist them economically, helping to bolster the continent’s economy in general, and strengthening our cultural ties as Americans.
*We call for free movement for Americans from every American country.

*We advocate for the right to free association and self-determination. People living in a political entity should have the right to maintain, alter or conclude their relationship to larger entities, or join in union, if it is the will of the people.
*We advocate for lifting sanctions on countries who only have said sanctions because we disapprove of their government.
*We advocate for legislation which ensures our government and intelligence agencies do not interfere in any elections in Europe, Africa, Asia or any part of the American Continent and that the will of the people is respected.

This would likely require quite a significant foreign policy change on the USA’s part, however. The US has made a lot of missteps along the way, so we should make the first steps to fix them.
==Clean Water==
Water is life, and it belongs to everyone. As a core part of the commons, it must never be polluted, privatized, or restricted for profit. Decades of deregulation, judicial rollbacks, corporate influence, and government negligence have left communities poisoned and ecosystems collapsing. “Self-regulation” has consistently failed; polluters place profit above public health, and our waterways have paid the price. Pirates refuse to let rivers, lakes, aquifers, and seas become dumping grounds for corporate abuse or political indifference.

Water must be stewarded transparently, democratically, and with the protection of future generations in mind. It is a human right, a public trust, and a shared responsibility.

The Pirate Party Will:
*Defend water as a protected common resource and guarantee universal access to safe, affordable drinking water.
*Keep water systems under democratic public control; oppose privatization and profiteering from essential water services.
*Reject any laws, rulings, or policies that weaken environmental protections or reduce accountability for polluters.
*Demand strict penalties, mandatory cleanup, and full public oversight for all contamination events.

*Promote lead pipe replacement, PFAS remediation, building of desalinization plants and climate-resilient water infrastructure.

*Support community-driven stewardship of waterways, including local boards, cooperatives, and open-data monitoring.
*Advance the development and adoption of safe, environmentally inert materials and processes that cannot poison water through accident or abuse.
*Promote scientific innovation and sustainable materials engineering that provide alternatives to harmful substances.
*Protect Indigenous water rights and uphold treaty obligations.

Clean water is not negotiable. Pirates stand for clean seas, healthy waterways, and a future where every community has the power, the data, and the resources to defend its water. We will fight to protect it, restore it, and ensure it flows freely for generations to come.

We believe that through the OAS or other Pan-American organizations we should foster genuine collaboration and friendship. We should end the Cuban embargo, close Guantanamo Bay, lift sanctions on Nicaragua and end the occupation of Venezuela. Legislation should be passed explicitly preventing the US government and intelligence agencies from covertly interfering with elections anywhere. This is only a start to what needs to be done to repair relations in the Americas.

Where sanctions and tariffs remain a tool of policy, they should be bounded in time and should never be aimed at civilians. There should be permanent humanitarian exemptions in sanctions for food, medicine, and civilian fuel. Sunset clauses and mandatory congressional reauthorization should be attached to any sanctions or tariff regime.

Our force structure should be sized to the missions we actually intend to carry out. The US military is by far the most powerful in the world, it is an unjustifiable level of over-preparedness. With the goal of reducing US military spending to 50% of its current level over the next 15 years, we should reevaluate our defense spending priorities and focus on reductions in capacity while maintaining readiness. The Pentagon budget should be cut every year it fails an audit, and redundant overseas bases should be closed.

While nuclear weapons will certainly remain an essential part of US military capability for the foreseeable future, our nuclear strategy should be aimed at the eventual goal of a world without them. To that end:

- We should negotiate an expanded New START successor treaty to govern a mutual drawdown in nuclear weapons, within a framework that can include all nuclear powers.
- We should adopt a legally binding no-first-use policy for nuclear weapons.
- We should ratify the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.

Congress must also reclaim its constitutional authority over the use of force. The 2001 AUMF should be repealed, and the War Powers Act should be amended to close loopholes and strengthen enforcement.

The War Powers Act should be updated to require congressional authorization before introducing US forces into any hostilities, except to repel an actual armed attack on the United States. Any such emergency use of force should terminate automatically, with appropriations cut off, absent congressional authorization within 30 days.

Hostilities should be explicitly defined to include drone strikes, standoff strikes, special operations raids, offensive cyber operations, direct support to belligerents, and any other comparable use of force that successive presidents have used to avoid congressional oversight and conduct illegal wars.
